BMW has just introduced a facelift for the current 5-Series, which has been on the scene since the 2011 model year, wqzxc but today we have spy shots of a test mule for a replacement car, which we expect in the market around 2016, as a model 2017. Engineers use the 5-Series Touring body to test a platform that will support the 2017 5-Series, a platform that will be shared with the next-generation 7-Series because it came out a year earlier.
There should be a regular sedan and Touring wagon bodystyles, plus a second-generation 5-Series Gran Turismo. As for the engine, wqzxc expect option four, six and eight cylinders remain, all with direct injection and turbocharging technology. A plug-in hybrid models should also be offered, perhaps with variations of three cylinders and the i8 electric motors settings.
Expect the car to weigh about 220 pounds less than the current 5-Series, which means lighter version could end up tipping the scales of less than 3,300 pounds. wqzxc Size and proportions of the car should be the same as the current model, which means the overall length of approximately 16 meters and a width of more than six meters.
