2015 Audi Q7 Design Release Date - Application of the new platform will allow the Audi engineers to shed some 650 pounds from the curb weight of the current Q7, which tips the scales at more than 5,300 pounds in a light variation. Weight savings will come from the use of aluminum and even some composite materials in vehicle construction and use of a smaller engine in line with the principles of Audi's downsizing.

Engines will include a 3.0-liter TFSI unit and the 4.0-liter and 3.0-liter TDI. A plug-in hybrid models as well because, as previously confirmed by Audi CEO Rupert Stadler. Two plug-in hybrid version of the Q7 can be launched, one combines the 3.0-liter TFSI mill and another 3.0-liter TDI. Both should have the e-tron badging and all-electric range of about 18 miles.
With all the current second-generation competitor or later, Audi Q7 starts getting very long in the tooth and in desperate need of a makeover. Unfortunately for fans of Audi, vehicle release has been pushed back by almost a year because of a late change in design.
Original proposal was considered too aggressive when Wolfgang Egger takes over the design reigns at Audi back in 2011, and the subsequent redesign has caused delays. Look for the influence of Crosslane concept car of 2012, in particular its imposing grille on the Q7 even be integrated with the vehicle structure.
